Finding candidates for hard-to-fill Engineering jobs Engineering Central is an advertising website - we advertise Engineering jobs that employers are trying to fill. For many employers, it works well. For some, it doesn't. Some jobs are very hard to fill, requiring a lot of experience and very specific qualifications. That said, there are people out there who are qualified for the jobs and who might very well take them. So what's the problem? Many passive candidates are not looking at job ads or posting their resumes Usually, the only real candidates for these hard-to-fill jobs are engineers that are already working. They may be working for your competition or some other company allied to your industry. Because they are already working and are reasonably happy with their jobs, they don't post their resumes on the Internet, and they don't look at job ads. What's the solution? These candidates may respond to a direct approach from a recruiter Even though these candidates are reasonably happy with their current jobs, they may well respond to a better opportunity that is offered to them. It may be better in terms of salary, working environment, opportunity for advancement or other things. The person that will call up these candidates and present new opportunities to them is a recruiter. Our point man specializes in Engineering recruiting and has over 20 years' experience. Like any other field, some recruiters are better than others. For one thing, it is better to have someone as a recruiter that is familiar with your field - Engineering, if you are a customer of Engineering Central and are trying to find Engineers. It is also much better to have someone who already has a large database of candidates and a lot of experience in sourcing candidates. We have partnered with Matt Messana of Office Source Specialists. He has been a specialist in recruiting Engineers for over 20 years. He has a large database of candidates, and that is important for 2 reasons:
Matt also has a network of over 120 highly experienced recruiters Despite Matt's experience and the size of his database, he may not be able to find the right candidate for your job. In that case, he has a network of over 120 very experienced recruiters with expertise and candidates in every Engineering niche. He will refer you to the right recruiter who has the very best chance of getting your job filled. A recruiter costs a lot more than advertising, BUT ... Of course, the investment in a recruiter is much greater than it is in advertising. However, if you have tried advertising and it hasn't worked, it may be time to consider a good recruiter. Matt's charge is 25% of the candidate's annual salary. You only pay that if a suitable candidate is hired and stays with you for a guarantee period (usually 90 days). Considering the salary a highly-qualified Engineer would make, this is a lot of money. Why does it make business sense? Consider the money that is being spent or lost because you don't have this Engineer:
Isn't it already costing you more to not have this Engineer than the recruiter would cost? It costs nothing to investigate If you think hiring a recruiter to help you fill your Engineering job or jobs is a possibility, email us at office@engcen.com or give Bill Denham a call at 604-274-1387. We will put you in contact with Matt and he will take it from there. What have you got to lose? Just your anxiety about filling that job!
