Advanced Control and Data System Software Engineer for highly precise and technical installation projects located in South Eastern Louisiana. This position is a 3-year term, renewable position. The client wants to fill this position within 30 days; therefore, only local candidates are being reviewed at this time. Responsibilities: - gt; Participate in the design and implementation of complex digital feedback and control systems for the advanced laser upgrade projects - gt; Write and document software used in the realtime control and-or acquisition of research data, with particular focus on the online diagnostic tools used in support of commissioning and operations - gt; Work with engineering staff in the overall integration and test of hardware and software into complete control and data acquisition systems - gt; Contribute automated test software for the on site controls development and test system - gt; Provide Linux operating system administration support as needed Requirements: - gt; BSCS or BS in Physics with 3 years of relevant experience - gt; Should have experience with C and C++ computer programming - gt; Scripting language, such as Perl is a plus - gt; Linux computer operating system administration - gt; Experience with writing PCI hardware drivers desirable - gt; Computer network protocols and writing software which communicates data via Ethernet - gt; Code development for multi- processor, multi-core platforms - gt; Should have experience working in laser hazard areas and industrial cleanrooms - gt; Must be able to work in a team environment and be able to support other technicians and engineers - gt; Must have good communication skills - gt; Must have a valid drivers license - gt; Must be able to periodically travel to other facilities Benefits: - gt; Vacation - gt; Paid Holidays - gt; Very good insurance plan - gt; And More
