The Opportunity:
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) seeks a professional, innovative and detailed individual for our Power Engineer position. Power Engineer – Distribution & Rotating Machinery
Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of the assigned apparatus and related protection, monitoring and control issues.
Develop and analyze product specifications and functional tests.
Write and maintain application literature, instruction manuals and data sheets.
Provide technical and market analysis to evaluate proposed products or enhancements.
Gather and maintain data on competing products in the assigned product area.
Mentor Associate Engineers and Technicians.
Follow and improve R&D processes.
Qualifications:
B.S. in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Minimum 4 years working knowledge of electric power systems, protection practices and philosophies
Excellent technical training, speaking and writing skills
Working knowledge of apparatus and protective relay application at an electrical utility, industrial plant or engineering firm
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Preferred Qualifications:
Working knowledge of SEL products
Experience in power system modeling using EMTP
