Candidate will be part of BD's EpiCenter product development team. EpiCenter is an advanced clinical microbiology data management system designed for use with BD Diagnostic instruments. The engineer will be responsible for a team developing graphical user interfaces, and database querying and reporting applications that address both the user's daily data entry and reporting needs as well as long-term, complex data mining requirements.
Other Responsibilities:
Coordinates the development and integration of the overall software project plan and schedules. Evaluates the schedule inputs for completeness and accuracy. Integrates the software development activities with other business functions. Monitor project schedule and maintain awareness of related engineering and other activities that may adversely impact the software schedule.
Provides leadership in resolving functional and software/hardware issues during overall system validation. Facilitates decisions on scope of work, duration of tasks, and determination of design requirements. Responsible for implementing new software component designs or enhancements to existing software products; assists in the implementation of more complex subsystems and systems. Recommends design direction or modifications of software system components. Selects and applies standard techniques; recognizes discrepancies in results and determines needed corrections. Participates in code inspections and technical reviews. Insures adherence to BDDS development policies and procedures.
Qualifications
Requires a BS degree in a related Engineering discipline.
A minimum of ten years direct technical experience in software engineering is required.
A minimum of one year in a project leadership position with responsibility for developing, tracking, and updating the project schedule. This includes development of the work breakdown structure, personnel assignments, and managing unplanned events to achieve schedule commitments.
A minimum of one year directly managing people
Experience with Microsoft Project highly desireable
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server desirable.
Experience with Microsoft Developer's Studio, .Net, C#, Visual Basic and Visual C++ highly desirable.
