Other responsibilities for this Principal Engineer include:
* Provide Project Leadership * Independently plan, implement, monitor and deliver designated tasks and deliverables to achieve design and development objectives. * Effectively lead and direct the work of other engineers and laboratory technicians to achieve objectives. * Participate as a member of a cross-functional team to deliver to business-critical product development commitments. * Ability to plan multiple work-flows and identify ways to optimize time lines and reduce technical development risk. * Identify, break down and solve complex problems, and provide technical direction to others
* Impact Project Execution * Use creative and critical thinking to devise new approaches to solve technical problems and leverage understanding of first engineering principles, advanced engineering methods, data and judgment to support approach * Participate in implementation of technology transfer from research to development to manufacturing. * Ensure appropriate processes are followed for effective and timely engagement of related parties in completion of designated project activities. * Develop understanding of customer needs and processes to ensure relevant and innovative product development solutions. * Actively seek training to improve skills. Ensure technical lessons are reviewed, learned, and disseminated. Actively teach and promote learning. * Ensure compliance with BD quality policies, procedures and practices as well as with all local, state, federal and BD safety regulations, policies and procedures. * Strong technical judgment for product engineering and new product development * Experienced in project planning and implementation
Qualifications
Requirements
* Education * MS degree in Mechanical Engineering, BMED or other technical discipline with at least 5 - 7 years experience in Medical Devices. Strong preference for Ph.D. degree in ME, BMED, Materials with a minimum of 2 years experience in Medical Devices. Experience in the high volume manufacture of medical device is preferred. * Six Sigma or experience preferred. Need to have knowledge of statistics.
* Skills * Required: Medical device experience in design and product engineering * Experience in High volume manufacturing of medical devices * Demonstrated advanced engineering skills (CAD/CAE), and design. * Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. * Strong technical judgment and problem solving skills. * Experienced in project planning. * Demonstrated leadership. * Understanding of disciplined product development processes, regulatory and quality requirements for medical products * Results driven and action oriented. * Scale-up, IQ/OQ/PQ experience a plus * Technology scoping and validation experience a plus * Design, prototype, and molding experience a plus
