JOB TITLE: SCIENTIST

We are seeking a Scientist for our Neenah Technical Center. This position offers a chance to work with R&D in product development, Marketing, Business Operations, Manufacturing and Engineering functions at various levels in bringing about the successful commercialization of products and processes. In addition, this position offers the opportunity to get involved with product design and product commercialization from the ground up while learning more about the manufacturing of tissue and towel. The successful candidate for this position is an energetic individual willing to do a fair amount of traveling.

Responsibilities:

Lead technical phases of commercialization efforts including product/process feasibility trials in all mills and capability/extended trials demonstrating the efficacy or scale up of the product and process to be commercialized.
Develop scientific experimental plans and lead or support the implementation of product development feasibility trials, run to target trials, extended capability trials and production of sales samples as needed.
Establish process centerline conditions that will enable successful on-going production following commercialization.
Establish finished product definitions to guide the production of the newly commercialized product.
Represent R&D on the global commercialization team for product startup and process implementation and qualification.
Interact with business operations, NACP Business Commercialization, mill teams and product development lead scientist on each project requiring commercialization.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing, Marketing, Business Ops and Sales).
Plan and lead production of Home Use Test (HUT) samples and conduct extended trials to establish centerlines and finished product definitions.

Basic Qualifications:

Associates degree or higher and minimum of 3+ years of tissue/towel papermaking or converting required.

Knowledge - SKills - Abilities:

Candidate is available and able to travel (up to a maximum of 60%).
Effectively applies scientific/technical knowledge, disciplined process, critical thinking, and risk management.
Experience with designing experiments and trial plans, analyzing, and assessing technical, product, and process research data to quantify the feasibility of new products/processes or enhancements of existing products/processes.
Utilize statistical skills to analyze data and make inferences as appropriate. Candidate will have a strong planning, time management, strong interpersonal and trouble shooting skills.
Effective communication skills (written/verbal); proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
