Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems

Key Responsibilities

Undertake building mechanical systems engineering relating to the field of HVAC and piping systems including plumbing and fire suppression for new and existing buildings.
Undertake design calculations and make sure the plans correspond to the guidelines, the code prescriptions and other regulations.
Coordinate mechanical systems design with other disciplines (architectural, structural, electrical, civil, ect).
Establish and maintain relations with the clients in order to define their needs, explain technical information, concepts or study results.
Prepare project budget.
Prepare proposals, estimates and other technical documents.
Supervise the work of the Technicians and support staff appointed to the project.
Assess the mechanical systems in existing buildings for upgrading, renovations and retrofits, including report preparation.
Participate in project management and on-site project reviews during construction and assist during commissioning.
Perform all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project.

Qualifications

Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering majoring in Building Systems.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience in Canada in the building systems design field.
Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGM; or with another Canadian licensing organization with the ability to acquire APEGM registration within 6 months.
Experience in engineering consulting will be considered an asset.
Good initiative, attention to details.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
