Civil Engineer - Intermediate and Senior Bridge Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake assessments and designs of new and upgraded bridges.
• Accomplish design calculations and make sure the plans correspond to the guidelines, the code prescriptions and other regulations.
• Establish and maintain relations with the clients in order to define their needs, explain technical information, concepts or study results.
• Prepare Project Budgets.
• Verify and accomplish the request for proposals, estimates and other technical documents.
• High level design of critical bridge components.
• Coordination with geotechnical and civil support staff.
• Supervise the work of the Technicians and support staff appointed to the project.
• Direct all activities of the new Bridge Engineering Group, including recruitment, training, mentoring and management of staff.
• Perform all other related tasks that will help accomplish the project.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering majoring in structures.
• Minimum 7 years relevant experience in Canada as a Project Engineer and 15 years as a Group Manager respectively, in the assessment and design of bridges (including timber, steel and concrete structures).
• Registered as a Professional Engineer with APEGM; or with another Canadian licensing organization, with the ability to acquire APEGM registration within 6 months.
• Specific expertise with a variety of geological and soil conditions found in Manitoba.
• Specific knowledge of Manitoba Infrastructure & Transportation bridge standards.
• Good initiative, attention to details.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
