JOB TITLE: Reliability Consultant

LOCATION: Any US Location

Reliability Consultant Summary:

Primarily responsible for providing professional advice, training, and guidance to clients in SAP configuration and a wide range of functional areas related to maintenance and reliability improvement.

Location: We are located in Southbury, CT, but the consultant can work from their home anywhere in the USA.

Responsibilities of Reliability Consultant Includes:

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates reliability engineering and maintenance activities concerned with the management, control and improvement of operation and maintenance processes and machinery
  • Advises and guides clients through SAP the setup and configuration of SAP decisions that may ultimately impact the capability to implement best practices in Reliability
  • Supervises and provides administrative oversight of Principal Field Engineers as assigned
  • Perform a needs assessment with a focus on the PM module
  • Advises client’s on SAP Plant Maintenance system setup to achieve the full functionality of the software
  • Assist client with SAP report development and data extraction methods
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments of client physical assets and processes to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Applies proven reliability and maintenance practices to develop comprehensive solutions and recommendations
  • Writes reports clearly documenting recommendations and plans and required next steps
  • Works with the client to develop strategies and tactics to achieve financial results
  • Pro-actively coordinates the implementation, control and analysis of the facility's predictive and preventive maintenance program (The program may include predictive technologies such as Vibration Monitoring, Thermography, Fluid Analysis, Motor Current Analysis, Ultrasonic Leak Detection, Eddy Current, and other NDT Technologies)
  • Develops standardized and customized training material for a broad range of reliability and maintenance topics including student guides, lesson plans, post lesson testing, workshop exercises and instructor training aids
  • Presents training material to audiences ranging from 6 to 50 people
  • Writes professional articles demonstrating professional competence and MRG philosophy for publication in various industry publications
  • Presents papers at professional conferences
  • Supports other MRG department functions by conducting project projects and preventive maintenance procedure development
  • Facilitates Equipment Criticality Ranking Assessments by facilitating a cross-functional client group to accurately determine weighted ranking criteria and sets up software to reflect the criteria, selects the proper equipment to evaluate and applies the ranking criteria against the selected equipment
  • Supports cross-functional teams to develop work process/work flows to support client reliability improvement initiatives. Develops graphical and written descriptions of the new work processes
  • Supports all phases of customer "Root Cause Failure Analysis" Programs, from initial orientation to program development and training and facilitation of RCFA projects at the client site
  • Facilitate Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) Analysis in accordance with MRG standards
  • Drafts failure mode and effect analysis sheets to identify critical assets posing failure risks and support proposed solutions to minimize or mitigate probable risks
  • Supports Sales and Marketing by identifying new and repetitive business opportunities
  • Develops extended relationships with clients
  • Identifies opportunities to deploy a full complement of MRG and MRG partner services and products to most effectively support the client and improve the overall reliability improvement initiatives
  • Identifies new business or service opportunities based on client input and observations
  • Develops operational strategies consistent with Client requirements
  • Provides guidance on industry best practices relative to processes, procedures and KPI Benchmark data
  • Assists senior level consultant with higher level engagements to gain the required experience on all MRG deliverables
Requirements for Reliability Consultant:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant Engineering Science; or five - ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation and support of SAP software, specifically the PM module
  • SAP strategy development experience
  • Hands-on reliability engineer or maintenance manager experience
  • Trainer or instructor experience
  • Basic computer skills and working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of one or more CMMS packages
  • Understanding and familiarity with data and database manipulation
  • Ability to quickly grasp, utilize and teach new applications
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Possesses a broad ranging background in industrial maintenance, reliability, change management and project planning
  • Firm understanding of predictive maintenance techniques and technologies.
  • Considerable experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and written skills
  • Effective communication at the boardroom level and directly with maintenance practioners
  • Background or training in Predictive Maintenance, Training, Preventive Maintenance, Reliability Based Maintenance, Training, Curriculum and Material Development, RCFA, RCM, FMEA, Six Sigma Data Analysis, Inventory/Stores Management, Planning & Scheduling, Condition Monitoring , MRO/OEM Purchasing
  • Understanding of maintenance financial drivers and measures/metrics
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Valued but not Required Skills and Experience:
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional Certification (CMRP)
  • Project Management Institute Certification (PMI)
  • 6 Sigma Green/Black Belt
