CHEMICAL, PETROCHEMICAL, REFINERY & PHARMACEUTICAL RECRUITERS Will improve existing processes, introduce new processes, and support plant operations. Perform project engineering activities as directed by the Engineering Manager; includes project management of these activities. Project-Engineering activities include the design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and start-up of new processing equipment. This engineer promotes safety in all aspects of operations so as to improve the safety record at this facility and throughout the company; includes work performed by contractors. Promote a professional, proactive, and productive work environment. Promote the production of products that meet or exceed customer expectations, e.g., through participation in audits and investigations. Support daily production activities by monitoring process performance, trouble-shooting problems, and, as needed, implementing corrective actions. Execute activities to implement new chemical-processing and materials-handling processes, which include: Evaluate feasibility of new processes. Design process systems; includes associated documentation, e.g.: Process Safety Information, such as process flow diagrams, piping and instrumentation diagrams, material and energy balances, and emergency relief system designs. System-Design Information, such as equipment layouts, building layouts, equipment specifications, and bills of materials. Prepare cost estimates and prepare appropriation requests for associated equipment and facility modifications. Create operating procedures. Provide operator training. Facilitate and participate in process hazard analysis. Specify, procure, install, and start-up process and utility equipment. Coordinate activities that are performed by contractors. Ensure compliance to company requirements and governmental regulations that pertain to project related assignments. Prepare and publish post-process assessments following trials. Continuously evaluate, recommend, and implement improvements to the plant processes and operating procedures. Work closely with production, maintenance, other departments, and the plant management staff to identify, justify, and implement process improvements. A degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering and at least five years of Process-Engineering and/or Project Engineering experience in chemical processing industry (8-10 years being ideal). Must have two years experience interfacing with contractors. Prefer to have additional education in Project Management. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Prefer to have proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, Microsoft Power Point (or equivalent software applications) and a pipeline-sizing program.
