Our client, Crimson Trace Corporation (CTC), is a world leader in the design, manufacture and sales of integrated laser sighting systems for handheld firearms. CTC’s products are sold under the LaserGrips™ trademark in the outdoor sports, recreation, military, and law enforcement markets. CTC has an immediate need for a high caliber executive to head up their product development organization. Reporting to the President, this individual will be a member of the executive management team and share in responsibility for growing the company worldwide. Job Description:
This individual will be responsible for providing overarching strategic vision and leadership to the product development function, driving tactical execution of new and sustaining products, and creatively evolving technology and product platforms to meet consumer needs. Responsible for product development metrics, project and department budgets, and serves as a member of the executive team to support overall company needs. Manage a team of design engineers and product managers in addition to overseeing the work of engineering contractors. Oversee the development of new product ideas, development of product requirement documents, product life cycles, sustaining R&D, competitive benchmarking and product beta testing. Manage CTC’s intellectual property including patents and trademarks. Position requires cross-functional partnering with Manufacturing and Sales/Marketing.
Qualifications include at minimum a BS Engineering degree, preferably mechanical. Advanced degree in engineering or business is desired. Minimum of 12+ years in product development with at least half that time in a significant leadership role. Consumer products experience is a must preferably involving small electro-mechanical systems/parts. Advanced competency in Pro-E or other solid modeling software. Knowledge of TQM initiatives and DFM standards is a must. Experience in the firearms or sport/hunting/outdoor trades is a plus. Experience working with DoD and international customers and knowledge of FAR/ITAR is helpful. Leadership presence, superior communications skills and interpersonal skills are essential.
