A stable, well established power utility located in New York City is actively searching for an Environmental Engineer with extensive experience in waste water and water treatment regulations in a power plant or heavy industrial environment. This position does not provide relocation. Responsibilities: -> Provide direction, support and guidance to all Steam Operations facilities on State Pollution Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Compliance -> Manage the SPDES Heads-up Program -> Lead engineering based field investigations to determine root cause and corrective actions for SPDES/wastewater events and close calls and communicate incidents and Lessons Learned throughout Steam Operations -> Serve as liaison between the Steam Operations and the Corporate EHandS group for water related issues -> Liaison between Steam Operations and Central Engineering related to SPDES/wastewater considerations in the project design/planning phase for capital, retirement and OandM projects -> Assist in the evaluation and development of SPDES/Water related procedures and training -> Manage the Steam Operations Oil Water Separator Program Coordinate vendor inspections and reports, provide and track corrective actions plans -> Classify, evaluate and track reporting in the Environmental Management Information System (EMIS -> Conduct environmental and safety technical assessments, audits, self-assessments and investigations at all field locations -> Maintain a strong engineering based field presence and interact with station forces to ensure that Best Environmental Practices are integrated throughout the Department Requirements: -> A Bachelors Degree in Engineering -> A minimum of six to eight years of work experience, and be knowledgeable of wastewater (SPDES/NPDES/CWA), sewer and storm water regulations, plant water cycles and water treatment processes and equipment -> Experience working with SPCC, SPR, RMP and HWCP’s and experience related to environmental compliance reporting requirements (SPDES, spills, etc) is desirable -> Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs such as excel, word and PowerPoint -> Work experience at a power plant or other major industrial facility is preferred -> This Position requires frequent field visits to power plants which may include heat, noise, elevated and confined spaces.E xtensive walking and climbing are required, as well as the ability to work in all types of weather -> The successful candidate must have a valid driver’s license, and be physically able to wear a respirator Benefits: -> The opportunity to work for a well established, stable company that provides career growth opportunities -> Excellent Benefits -> Competitive compensation based on experience Salary: 77-90 K per year Job Code: 78412
