COMPANY LOCATION: Houston, Texas MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education/experience: Requires BS in engineering (e.g., safety/fire, chemical, mechanical, civil), or a related physical science, with 10+ years in the petrochemical or similar industries. Candidate should have loss prevention/fire prevention engineering experience in areas such as: process safety management, safety management system development and implementation, incident/injury prevention, safety in plant designs, hazard identification, qualitative and quantitative risk analysis, consequence modeling, safe operating procedures and standards, behavioral safety programs, and incident investigation. Candidates with experience in areas such as oil and gas well drilling safety, construction safety, aviation safety, traffic and vehicle fleet safety, marine safety, health physics, hazardous materials management, or industrial hygiene will also be considered. Must have demonstrated knowledge of loss prevention engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, and industry fire and safety codes, standards and specifications, such as those under OSHA, NFPA, NEC, API and ANSI. Certifications, such as Professional Engineer, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, are desirable but not required. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Incumbent will be work in one of the company''s Loss Prevention divisions and may be involved in the following types of activities (list is not all inclusive): Coordinating and directing fire and safety studies and program development and recommending loss control methods for industrial, hydrocarbon or chemical facilities. Focus areas may include process safety management, corporate safety management system development and implementation, quantitative and qualitative risk assessment, hazard identification, HAZOP studies, consequence analysis, safety performance benchmarking, safe operating procedures and standards, corporate safety training, and related areas. Reviewing new projects and planned modifications to existing facilities for conformance to applicable fire and safety engineering standards and codes. Projects may vary in scope from major oil and gas producing/refining facilities/plants, to industrial or community complexes, and office buildings. May be involved in project through scope development, design reviews, construction, and commissioning. Assisting operating organizations (e.g., refining, producing, drilling, piping) in the development and implementation of effective local safety programs to support safe operations. Will also support organizations in conducting safety inspections/reviews as well as field safety and hazard identification surveys, and resolving ongoing safe operating concerns. Developing and/or updating corporate safety and fire prevention engineering standards, codes, and procedures for application in the company. May also be involved in developing local safe operating procedures and practices and assisting with their implementation. Will participate in the measurement and evaluation of existing loss prevention programs, standards or procedures and recommend improvements. Developing and promoting on- and off-job safety educational material and for company employees.
